Breakout Session

Populist Strategies and Narratives in Times of COVID-19

The session focuses on how the far-right uses the COVID-crises to propagate its ideology of a ‘clean’ and homogenous nation – be it in the US, in Hungary, Italy or Germany. With social media, however, the far right of today has much more effective communicative tools at their hands. What are their narratives and strategies, and how can we prevent them from increasing their discursive and political power?
